Warm sand was encrusted around my feet, While the air, moist and fresh, blew through my hair. I looked to the sea, between lines of heat, As they blurred the horizon, once so fair. Waves of sea now crashed against my cold shins, The inviting tide had began to rise. I imagined myself growing blue fins, As I swam away in my new disguise. The water gleamed and I saw my duty, To lean in and inspect its clear water. Yet, in spite of its lure and beauty, I could not see past my little daughter. I smiled and her bright eyes smiled back at me, We were both one, looking in the deep sea.
