Today was unexpectedly sunny. Feeling the warmth against my cheeks I readjusted my glasses against the glare. It wasn’t as busy today at the train station, I looked around for the typical characters. The man with the giant books, sitting by himself engrossed in his words was not there. Neither was the old lady perching against the wall allowing her walking stick a momentary rest. It was deserted. How strange!
It was at that moment I decided to check my watch. Uh-oh! I was late, I had completely missed the train. How did this happen? I decided instead to walk the distance. It wasn’t very far after all, and it was a beautiful day.
As I walked, I looked around and observed my surroundings. I saw the beauty of the flowers perfectly planted in people’s gardens. I observed the lovingness in the birds sitting in pairs on the rooftops. I smelt the fresh scent of cut grass. All of these senses I had been depriving myself of on the train were all hitting me at once.
I think I’ll miss the train again tomorrow!
