Beginning to Express Yourself
Sometimes you might not feel like writing poetry or a short story. Instead, you might find it more beneficial and therapeutic to write down your feelings and thoughts as they naturally flow.
Find somewhere quiet and comfortable to start writing in. Maybe think about a specific event and begin writing your thoughts about it. You can write in the first person (e.g. using "I" & "me") if that is easier for you or you can try writing in the third person, looking in at yourself (e.g. using "they", "her", "him").
